Once upon an April

Few things can be as contradicting as a Middle Ages exhibition in the center of busy downtown Stockholm. Although Viking legends are undoubtedly entertaining, everything here carries the ‘CURRENT’ label, even the Old town as a matter of fact. So high-end DSLR cameras and branded statement pieces side by side with a blacksmith with a face covered in ashes and a heavy hammer in hand was surreal at first (to say the least). But in the clash between the Ancient and the Modern, the ancient prevailed. The traditional gowns, the medieval music and the handmade knick knacks were so plausible that it didn’t take me more than a couple of minutes to go back in time. If only I had a long silk gown hidden under a thick canvas mantle on me, and I could have passed as Cersei Lannister.
