Sweet rolls (semlor, in Swedish) usually make their first appearance mid January every year and then sticks around until Fat Tuesday which makes for plenty of opportunities to ditch all New Year’s resolutions related to weight loss and healthy lifestyle. But just a day away from Fat Tuesday everyone in Stockholm has gone crazy over these particular semlor. The reason? Bakery Vete-katten, est. 1928, has once again been voted as the best producer of semlor by Swedish newspaper SvD.
Don’t mind if I can’t wait till Tuesday though. Semlor are to be enjoyed fresh. With all due respect to the best in town, that is.
